Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, interests, etc.).

I grew up in North Jersey and moved to central Jersey with my wife after we got married.  I went to Tufts for my undergrad degree in Computer Science and have a MBA from Rutgers.  I’m currently working at Scholastic (you know the people behind Clifford and Hunger Games).  I’m a football fanatic in withdrawal from the end of the season and reeling from the Tebow experiment.  I enjoy getting out on my snowboard in the winter and riding my bike in the summer; both of which have benefited tremendously from CrossFit.

What was your fitness routine before CrossFit?

Before CrossFit and after college, there was no routine.  There were numerous attempts at joining gyms, starting DVD workout programs, making ridiculous bets with friends to use as motivation. Somehow, I always found an excuse not to keep up with whatever kick I was on at the time.

Why did you start doing CrossFit?

I needed something to really get myself in shape that will continually motivate me and keep me interested.  A few people told me about their CrossFit experiences and I was intrigued.

What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout?

Between the sheer pain of the beginner class and witnessing the regular class working through “FIGHT GONE BAD”, I thought ‘Why did I sign up for a month BEFORE the intro class!!  I’m SCREWED!’

What were your goals when joining CrossFit Stealth?

I wanted to drop some weight, improve my overall health and exercise more regularly.

Have you achieved any of those goals?

Without a doubt!  Since starting at Stealth, I’ve shed 45 pounds, got an ‘at a boy’ from the Dr. and actually look forward to working out.

Has CrossFit affected your life outside the box?  How so?

Yes it has.  I start the day off with more energy and am getting a better night’s sleep.  I’ve changed my diet since joining; definitely spend more time around the outside aisles of the supermarket.

How would you describe your experience at CrossFit Stealth?

I was completely intimidated by CrossFit before I started.  Between the great coaches providing guidance on technique to your fellow CrossFitters supporting you as you finish the WOD, it’s really a great atmosphere to train.  I’ve seen myself do things and push myself like I never thought possible. It’s been a truly outstanding experience and would recommend to anyone.

How has CrossFit differed from any other training you’ve done in the past?

The biggest difference for me is that I’m in a routine but not in a routine at the same time.  I appreciate that I can have my routine of going the gym after work but relish the fact that I’ll be doing something different each time.

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit Stealth?

Don’t get intimidated by the abilities of the other CrossFit athletes at the gym or those you see on YouTube.  Do the best you can, stay committed and you’ll be amazed by the improvements you see.

Something you might not know about me is?

I am a private pilot and enjoy flying on the weekends.  My wife would say that I am obsessed with anything related to flying.  Judging by my relentless need to look towards the sky anytime I hear a plane I think she may be right!
