Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, sports, interests, etc.).

I moved to Jersey 3 years ago from PA (Philly area). I currently work in Finance at Sanofi, a pharmaceutical company in Bridgewater. I played D1 volleyball in college at Saint Francis University and still play indoor and beach volleyball.

What was your fitness routine before CrossFit?

Bicep curls… just kidding. I started weight training in college but never took it seriously until about two years ago. I have competed in a few ‘bodybuilding’ competitions over the past two years and that’s when I started routinely hitting the gym. My training for those competitions focused on aesthetics and physical appearance and not really athletic performance.

Why did you start doing CrossFit?

Competing in shows was draining me mentally and creating a lot of self-image issues so I wanted to refocus my fitness goals. My friend Thy (who is a member at Stealth and also my colleague at Sanofi) always talked about CrossFit so I decided to give it a try.

What were your thoughts after your first CrossFit workout?

I really can’t remember my first real WOD, but I’m sure I died. Overall, I felt pretty overwhelmed since there were so many new lifts/movements that I wasn’t familiar with, but I was eager to learn and get better.

What were your goals when joining CrossFit Stealth?

To add more some variation into my current workout regimen

Have you achieved any of those goals?

Yes, definitely. When I started I thought that I would just go a few times a week, but now I try to train as much as possible.

Has CrossFit affected your life outside the box? How so?

My mental growth has been tremendous since starting CrossFit. CrossFit has really enabled me to get out of the typical mindset (especially with women) of focusing on the scale and stressing about how much you weigh and being skinny. Now that my focus has shifted to performance goals and trying to learn all things CrossFit, my body has just physically changed without me ‘trying’.

How would you describe your experience at CrossFit Stealth?

The people that I have met in the short time since I have been at Stealth are awesome. It has been such a positive and motivating environment for me to be in. The coaches are great and really make an effort to help you.

How has CrossFit differed from any other training you’ve done in the past?

CrossFit has definitely challenged me. It almost felt like I was brand new to working out since everything is so different from the oly lifts, gymnastic skills, and the level of intensity. It never gets boring because workouts are always different and there will always be something you need to work on.

What advice would you give to a newbie just joining CrossFit Stealth?

Don’t be intimidated! Drill technique/form as much as you can and don’t be afraid to ask for help from the coaches

Something you might not know about me is?

I was born in Hawaii & I’m half Filipino and half white (German/Irish)
